Choosing a location for your engagement session can be overwhelming, but your photographer should be able to guide you.
First, discuss the vibe you want. There are many options, such as city chic, country documentary, artsy and unique, outdoor date, indoor date, fun date, and more.
Here are some examples of these vibes:
- Your favorite coffee shop
- A local museum or theater
- A family farm

Now, let me share some of my favorite locations and their pros and cons.
The Frankfort Capitol
This building and its architecture are absolutely breathtaking. The gorgeous neutral walls and beautiful steps create a perfect blend of indoor city chic and outdoor modern.
Pros: No permit required, best of both worlds, and a very large area to shoot.
Cons: They are under renovations in 2026, and it can be a bit of a drive depending on where you live.
St. James Court in Louisville is a beautiful place that exudes small-town charm. It features lush greenery, a stunning fountain, and the most breathtaking houses in the background. The ample space allows for endless creativity, enabling us to run around the grassy area, spin around light poles, and engage in various other activities.
Pros:
- No permit required
- Easy access
- Ample space for diverse photography opportunities
Cons:
- Parking can be a bit stressful, or you may have to park far away and walk.
Cherokee Park in Louisville is an ideal destination for those seeking a diverse range of experiences. The park boasts unique features such as “running in the street” roads, tall, beautiful trees, and expansive grassy fields.
Moreover, Cherokee Park is renowned for its breathtaking autumn scenery, resembling a scene straight out of a movie.
Pros:
- Wide variety of activities
- Ample space and open areas
- Located in the heart of Louisvilleisville., no permit.
Cons: Can be considered "Boring"
Downtown Louisville boasts numerous stunning spots, each with its own unique charm.
Each location offers a distinct ambiance, making it difficult to choose one that perfectly represents your relationship. However, I’m here to help you in any way I can.
Some of my favorite spots include the Louisville Library (both indoor and outdoor), The Belvedere, Main Street, Nulu, Waterfront Park, and more.
